Wedge anchors in concrete plates: hole size, fixture thickness, embedment
A through-plate wedge (expansion) anchor enquiry is not a chemical-anchor desk and not a screws→bolts→nuts warehouse SKU. Before a unit price is useful, lock the hole in the fixture, the plate thickness, and the embedment into concrete against the controlling detail.
Define · what this RFQ is for
Use this guide when the print calls a wedge or expansion-style anchor through a steel base plate, bracket foot, or equipment pad into concrete. You own concrete grade, cracked/uncracked assumptions, and structural sign-off; we confirm hole size, clamp length, embedment, and finish against the print and quantity band.
If the node is chemical / bonded (rod + buyer-side resin), use chemical anchor accessories (G6) instead — one desk per quote thread. Pair with load-path primer and drawing handoff, then open Enquire / RFQ.
Discuss · fields that change the quote
Each row below is a desk check. Missing rows stay Open — we do not invent concrete grades, ETA numbers, or plant metrics on this site.
Field desk · 01–06
-
Fixture hole size (mm) Must match shank / sleeve OD with the clearance the print allows. Oversized holes without a washer note change the clamp face.
- Email example: Plate holes: Ø14 mm for M12 wedge (Rev B plate BP-03)
- If missing: Open — no final price
-
Fixture / plate thickness Sets clamp length through the plate plus washer stack. Write the plate callout from the print.
- Email example: Plate: 20 mm S355; flat washer under nut
- If missing: ask for plate callout
-
Embedment depth Distance into concrete from the concrete surface (not from the top of the plate). Sets total length band with plate thickness.
- Email example: Embedment: 80 mm into slab; total length band per vendor table after hole+plate locked
- If missing: section or Open
-
Concrete note — buyer-side Concrete grade, cracked vs uncracked, and edge distance to slab edge stay on the buyer / engineer side. Capture the project note; do not invent a grade online.
- Email example: Concrete: C30/37 uncracked note on method statement; edge ≥100 mm
-
Grade / finish band Environment in buyer words: indoor dry, coastal, industrial. Prefer A2 / A4 or coated carbon when the print locks it; leave blank rather than inventing a grade.
- Email example: Finish band: zinc-plated carbon OK indoor; confirm coastal → stainless on RFQ
-
Qty band & use Discussion band is enough for the first reply: mock-up pads, one equipment set, or project lot.
- Email example: Qty band: mock-up 24 pcs → project lot TBD
Two desks — do not mix
- Wedge / expansion through plate (this page) — mechanical set into concrete under a steel plate.
- Chemical / bonded — see G6; resin stays buyer-specified.
- If the print is unclear which path applies, state Open and attach the section before asking for one number.
Agree · before we number
Until the following are aligned, treat any figure as discussion only:
- Controlling revision on the plate / node detail (see drawing handoff)
- Wedge expansion vs chemical path (G6) is settled — one desk per quote thread
- Torque / setting language only after hole size (01) and embedment (03) align
- Samples, packing, and private-label marking only after plate thickness (02) is clear
We do not invent ISO, CE, IATF, plant area, or ranking badges here. Project documents that matter to the RFQ are shared privately when relevant.
